Manual Therapy
What is Manual Physical therapy
Manual Therapy is a hands-on treatment approach used by our physical therapists to reduce pain, improve range of motion, and restore function. Our physical therapists gently manipulate and mobilize your muscles and joints to relieve pain and improve range of motion and restore function.
Techniques include soft tissue mobilization, joint manipulation, and massage. Manual therapy is particularly effective in relieving muscle tension, improving circulation, and enhancing the body’s natural healing process.
It’s a personalized approach that helps to restore balance and function in your body, while also promoting relaxation and healing. You may have experienced manual therapy and may not have realized it. Modern manual therapy techniques include skilled hand movements and joints and soft tissue passive movements. Whether you’re recovering from an injury or managing chronic pain, manual therapy works in harmony with your body’s natural ability to heal, making you feel more at ease and in control of your wellness journey. The intended purpose of these techniques is to Increase tissue elasticity, improve range of motion, mobilize soft tissue and joints, reduce soft tissue pain, inflammation, or restriction.

Types of manual physical therapy:

Joint Mobilization and Manipulation
Intended to reduce pain and promote improved joint mobility through the use of manual techniques that stimulate and stretch the surrounding connective tissue of the inflamed or restricted joint.

Neuromobilization
Also known as “Flossing” or “Gliding,” this technique helps decrease inflammation in nerves, breaks up scar tissue adhesions that form around nerves and can eliminate the sensation of “pins and needles” or numbness and tingling.

Myofacial Release
Deep palpation using a small surface area to promote fascial stretch and muscle relaxation. If a muscle is in spasm, it can lead to imbalances such as leg length discrepancies or pelvic asymmetry.

Massage
Ease your muscles and your mind through massage. We will be hosting a pop-up massage option every Sunday from August 27th through September 24th with Julia Priest. For additional options, bookmark our website and check back often, or give us a call.
